The magic must go on: in light of the enormous interest in his sold-out concert on 14 March, Al Di Meola will delight his fans with a second show two days later. The line-up for the Saturday performance offers us a more intimate sound to enjoy. The guitar phenomenon with many ties to Hungary will return to Müpa Budapest with his acoustic trio on 16 March, thus symbolically embracing our national holiday on the 15th, as well as Müpa Budapest’s own birthday. Also getting the chance to show off his virtuosity and enchanting lyricism alongside the trio will be Mike Gotthard.

Al Di Meola has amassed numerous recognitions over the course of his career. With four gold records and two platinum records to his name, he can also boast several Grammy nominations and awards, and even Hungary’s Inter-Lyra Award – an important honour for him. The greatest joy in his life is to feel the love of the audience, so he happily agreed to treat them to another concert after the one on 14 March. Joining him on the stage of the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall this time will be the other two members of the acoustic trio with whom he is particularly accustomed, musicians who understand each other down to the semitone. The Italian Peo Alfonsi earned a degree in classical guitar from the Cagliari Conservatory, but his passion for jazz soon opened up new worlds for him. He joined Di Meola’s World Sinfonia in 2005, and they still perform together regularly. The third crux of the triangle is Madrid-born Sergio Martínez, who studied with Paco De Lucía’s percussionist, Rubem Dantas. In addition to Afro-Latin traditions, he has also been initiated into the world of Hindu percussion and is a master of flamenco and a skilful jazz musician. His versatility makes him an extremely busy artist.
