Let's start with four guys. They have a friend, Kapa, though he's usually called Mucsi. Definitely not Zoli, because there are too many Zolis and you can never tell which one you're talking about. They meet in a little pub at the railway station. The musicians aren't there to act, and the actor won't be playing music: there's going to be a concert. So they discuss transience, hybridity, what is no longer, what is still to come, and how 'there was no connection'. This is straight talk, the straightness of doubt. Which is why it's easy to laugh, too.
The band 30Y debuted their pub concert at Müpa Budapest in 2015. They are well known for their acoustic instrumentation which is nearly as old as the band itself: 30Y have been performing intimate concerts at festivals and even on the street for nearly 15 years. In 2012, they released their album Szentimentálé, which functioned as both a repository and a re-imagining of the band's acoustic songs. Over time, they began taking more and more songs from their repertoire and adding them to their acoustic set-list, as a more intimate sound replaced their previous pathos. Directness, shared experiences with the audience and anecdotes connected to the songs have taken centre stage. 30Y's songs can easily be enjoyed sentimentally in a bar or pub. Or, like now, in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall.
