A unique concert as part of a unique series: celebrating 15 years of Müpa Budapest and 30 years of the Hungarian Jazz Federation with the Drive-in Cinema series. Though the concert planned for International Jazz Day has been postponed due to the state of emergency, we can still meet the heavyweights of the Hungarian jazz scene as never before: playing together in a big band. What's more, they will be appearing in a production setting that is truly one of a kind. As the artists perform in the Festival Theatre, their listeners will join them from their cars in the Müpa Budapest car park.

The concert plan was based on an ambitious concept, and while it seemed to have all been in vain, the dream of the organisers will now be realised in spite of all the difficulties. We will celebrate the 30th birthday of the Hungarian Jazz Federation, founded by János Gonda in 1990, with many of the music greats that have been essential to the Hungarian jazz scene over the past few decades They include Balázs Berkes, Imre Kőszegi, Tamás Berki and Károly Friedrich, who were all involved in the groundbreaking emergence of jazz in Hungary. Thanks to their musical and performance talent, innovative groups, songwriting abilities and regular international appearances and successes, Hungarian jazz was able to rise to prominence, develop its unique character and provide the chance for future generations to follow in their footsteps. Those younger generations will also be represented in the big band's line-up.
The event's artistic director will be Béla Zsoldos, the vice-president of the Hungarian Jazz Federation, the host of the concert will be Balázs Bágyi, the president of the federation, while the programme will contain classic songs from the history of jazz alongside the performers' personal creations.
