Change
We kindly draw our guests’ attention to the fact that the usual screening time of the Müpa Film Club has changed, so please pay attention to the new start times.
Featuring:
Like Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese is passionately in love with New York City. There is no doubt, however, that Scorsese sees a different city. His is dirtier, edgier, and slightly more full of crime and criminals. Scorsese’s home turf is Little Italy, in Lower Manhattan. On the other hand, New York, New York clearly shows that the two are both jazz fans. This film is the story of a constantly evolving love/marriage – one that is also told through the medium of music. Protagonists Francine (Lisa Minelli) and Jimmy (Robert De Niro) meet the day after V-J Day and the end of World War II. It’s a stormy relationship, though, which also spills over into the film’s music. How can swing and bebop even coexist peacefully? And this is where the song about the city that never sleeps was heard for the first time.
In the original language, with Hungarian subtitles.
The discussions before and after the screening will be conducted in Hungarian.
