Note: this film is not about the Belgian royal family. The story presents us with a fictional king of Belgium (Nicolas III), who is visiting Istanbul when he learns that his country is disintegrating. His efforts to return home, however, are severely hampered by a solar storm that makes communications and air navigation impossible. Thus begins Nicolas III’s odyssey across the Balkans – accompanied and aided by some Bulgarian folk singers. Directed by Peter Brosens and Jessica Woodworth, the film is part fun mockumentary, part road movie. And no small part an inner journey for the protagonist, the adventure of finding both his home and himself. An extremely funny one. And no less thought-provoking.
In the original language, with Hungarian subtitles.
The discussions before and after the screening will be conducted in Hungarian.
