Early Music Festival

To fit the occasion of the upcoming Early Music Festival, we've selected a few illustrations from the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Budapest to put on display. The Florentine printmaker Stefano Della Bella (1610 - 1664) was known for his etchings of Baroque operas and court festivities, including one set that gives us a glimpse of certain scenes from the early Italian opera Le nozze degli dei (The Marriage of the Gods). We'll be exhibiting these images in Banner Hall, blown up so big that one can practically step into them.
A grotto, fireworks, a sea battle, the heavens and hell: depending on which god has revealed itself at that moment.
