Platinum level members of the Müpa+ membership programme can buy tickets for the event on 29 September from 10 am, at the Gold level on 30 September from 10 am, and at the Silver level on 1 October from 10 am. The spirit of discovery is central to any Les Arts Florissants production. William Christie, the American-born conductor who has lived in France since 1971 and remains, at the age of 82, an eternally youthful master of historically informed performance, has already blessed the world with a host of outstanding singing talent, while also drawing attention to lesser-known masterpieces. We can expect the same on this occasion: Handel’s early chamber opera (or dramatic cantata) Aminta e Fillide (Arresta il passo, 1708) deserves to be rediscovered, not least because it contains the first versions of many later Handel arias. Meanwhile, the instrumental chamber music to be heard in the first half of the evening promises an exciting diversity of music when set against the ensemble’s largely vocal programmes. The emotional eloquence of the vocal parts will be interpreted with elegant virtuosity by the Portuguese lyric soprano Ana Vieira Leite and the Jerusalem-born mezzo-soprano Shakèd Bar.
