In this concert from Andrea Navratil, who has countless ties to Hungarian folk culture and is a versatile creator, and her folk musician friends, the Békás Banda, we will see the horse and horserider – the gallant Hungarian hussar, take centre stage. Mobile, rapid and surprisingly offensive hussar units appeared in historical sources as early as the Middle Ages. They often wreaked havoc among the enemy, and their unique tactics and fighting methods frequently earned praise for the Hungarian army. This interactive show, On Horsies and Hussars, will focus on these exceptional, outstanding men. Singing lessons, storytelling, folk tongue twisters and much more besides – let the dance begin!
