Who wants to play with me? Will you be my friend? Are we alike? Veronika Marék's classic hero, Kippkopp, the loveable chestnut boy, is brought to life on the puppet theatre stage in a story that gives charming and reassuringly well-rounded answers to perhaps the most important questions of childhood. Kippkopp, who has been peacefully slumbering since autumn, is awoken by a nesting mouse breaking a walnut shell. Ah well, maybe it is high time to go and discover the great wide world, and maybe even find a mate, with a bit of luck...

The story of the cheeky chestnut boy Kippkopp and, of course, his pretty companion Tipptopp, the chestnut girl, has been performed many hundreds of times and is an important landmark in the decade-long pioneering work of the Kolibri Theatre and its director, János Novák. The director Bea Tisza decided that Veronika Marék's widely known story was ideal for adaptation, particularly as children of kindergarten and primary school age love its repetition - just think of all those bedtime stories their parents read to them time and again. The ingenious space, in addition to the puppets, which are beautifully operated by Zoltán Bodnár and Rita Alexics, also pays special tribute to the refined musical world of Zsófia Tallér, about whom the pianist Gergely Bogányi wrote the following: "Applying the cleverest tactics, she awakens children's boundless force of imagination and creativity...delivering them - in a playful manner - the majestic and profound experience of music." The creators of the production dedicate the show to the memory of the recently deceased composer. Audience members are invited to bring chestnuts and other nuts, fruits and pebbles along to the show - let's see what becomes of them!
