Müpa Budapest will hold the György Solti International Conducting Competition between 1 and 10 October 2026, with the aim of giving young conductors from many parts of the world the opportunity to compete in front of prominent representatives of the profession in Hungarian concert halls boasting the finest acoustics in the country, with the involvement of internationally renowned Hungarian orchestras, thereby providing support in launching their careers.
The results of the preliminary round will be announced on 4 October, revealing which ten of the 24 competitors will advance to the semi-finals. The announcement will be followed by a random draw to determine which piece each contestant will conduct the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra at the Liszt Academy in the semi-finals on 5 and 6 October.
