Franco Zeffirelli’s staging of La Bohème has been a New York favourite since 1981, and this enchantingly lyrical, vibrantly youthful and extremely touching production is now making its fourth appearance on the programme of the MET’s global broadcasts. Over the past 125 years, Puccini’s hit opera has been performed over 1,400 times on the MET’s giant stage, and will once again feature remarkably talented artists with magnetic charisma in the main roles. Take Freddie De Tommaso in the role of Rodolfo, for example, who joined the ranks of the star tenors in just a couple of years, and is still only in his early thirties. Portraying Mimě at the heart of this production conducted by Keri-Lynn Wilson will be the similarly youthful and rapidly ascending star, the Armenian soprano Juliana Grigoryan.
The broadcast will be sung in the original language, and shown with Hungarian and English subtitles.
The ‘Metropolitan Opera Live in HD’ transmissions have been made possible through the cooperation of our partner, liveincinema.eu s.r.o.
