Kaukázus:
ToSoDa Project:
The János Kardos-Horváth-led group Kaukázus, who hail from Tatabánya, exploded onto to the Hungarian pop music scene 15 years ego with their generation-defining hit guitar music. The ToSoDa Project, who formed in the city of Győr and use some unusual instruments to create holistically thought out, meditative healing music, are starting to make waves both in Hungary and abroad, thanks in no small part to their collaboration with Kaukázus. Their joint show, ZeneKarma, will mainly feature reworkings of Kaukázus songs with longer, improvisational sections.
The fate of the two groups first became intertwined during a Balaton festival in the summer of 2018. It was the same year that Kaukázus became active once again after a quiet period and released a new album, while the self-defined spiritual drum and bass act ToSoDa Projekt established themselves as a trio. The latter group were formed whilst playing street music in Italy. Their music features a guitar complemented by two unusual percussion instruments, the handpan, a kind of steelpan, and the box-shaped cajon, which is made out of wood. Their music, which is eminently danceable and simultaneously invites you on an inner journey, was presented at a 2019 concert with two Kaukázus songs, before the collaboration was then developed into a full-length - almost two-hour - joint show. ZeneKarma is the work of both groups, and reworks mainly Kaukázus songs, combining a groundbreaking sound with an improvisational playing style. The space of the lyrics of Kardos-Horváth expands as the musicians bring each other into a new dimension. With a film projection developed especially for the show, this 'invitation to journey into a world without maps' will bring you a cavalcade of profound emotions.
