Béla Bartók National Concert Hall

Featuring: György Vukán, and Balázs Berkes, Budapest Saxophone Quartet, Charlie, András Ligeti, Imre Magyari, Andrea Meláth, Béla Szakcsi Lakatos Ventoscala Symphony Orchestra and mixed choir Conductor: Ilona Meskó “When I first heard György play the piano fifty years ago, it was my feeling that the piano was playing itself ... he is like an angel ... he lives here with us, on earth, but somehow this is not his home ... and when the music begins, he returns to his home – the motto of his country is freedom ... everyone knows that what he does is on a world level... ” (Péter Müller) “He is a supreme artist who has deserved the undoubted presence of God in his creations, as well as the infinite love and respect of people.” (András Ligeti) “Einfach genial…” Simply a genius… (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung) “I thank Fate for allowing us to play together so frequently and that we have been friends for so long and that this will continue to our dying days.” (Péter Bacsó) This concert pays homage to the great musician and Renaissance man, György Vukán and to his career as a pianist and composer. He has been appearing on stage now for six decades.
