Featuring: Honvéd Male Choir, Törökbálint Traditional Folk Dance Group On the fifth anniversary of their foundation Viki Marót and the Nova Kultúr Band present a barnstorming folk celebration, selecting music from the fifties through to the eighties. The melodies are performed in the spirit of crossover, not just in style we would expect from the band but thanks to a fusion of all three groups, in forms we have not heard before, while paying heed to the past and present dynamism in the arrangements. The programme features songs characteristic of each performer but each will perform works from the other groups’ repertoires in their own style. Every song will be a new spotlight on past times, from characteristically Hungarian light music styles, to pop songs, authentic American and adapted Hungarian rock and roll. In its appearance, this evening will evoke the grandiose folk festivals of the fifties and sixties although in sonority and dynamism, it will be pure 2008, with maximum use of scenic elements. Besides the floor band, costumed dancers will crank up the mood and a giant screen will accompany the songs (in parallel or independently) with archive or stylised inserts as well as live footage of the show itself.
