This year the Budapest Klezmer Band celebrates its 20 year jubilee. Over the past two decades, they have been showered with praise and earned an international reputation. It is no exaggeration to say that over the course of their many performances in Hungary and abroad, they have converted countless audiences to klezmer, forging a bond with their musicality and charisma between Jewish and non-Jewish, which is exemplary in our times. At tonight’s gala concert, the Budapest Klezmer Band will be performing the most successful songs and audience favourites from the last twenty years. Their guests this evening will be Katica Illényi, who worked with the band for eight years, as both a marvellous violinist and singer and helped broaden the group’s appeal, and also Eszter Bíró, who was the group’s singer for six years.
