Hungary’s hardest-rocking jazz group invites the audience on an extremely exciting musical journey. Visual design and projections dreamt up for the occasion promise to make the evening even more special, alongside a rich selection of musical treats. The backbone of the show will be provided by the band’s highly successful album released this year, entitled Essence of Change. The tracks from the record will be given further spice by the addition of Luca Kézdy’s electric violin and the cello of Felicián Kalmus. Naturally, key numbers from earlier albums will also feature on the set list, among them the well-known radio hit Fences of Reality, with special guest Balázs 'Turbo' Tanka.
Since its foundation in 2004, Special Providence has grown into one of the leading modern progressive rock bands in Europe today, thanks to its own style of music free of generic limitations and at once melodic and full of energy. Gathering increasing recognition around the world, the band’s music draws on the influences of jazz-rock, prog, metal and electronic music. In recent years, Special Providence has appeared at countless notable foreign festivals, performing concerts with global stars such as Jeff Andrews and Étienne Mbappé. In 2009, they made an enormously successful appearance at the London Jazz Festival, and have also performed in other countries in Europe as well as in Japan and the US. Their first album, Space Café, released in 2007, was followed a year later by Labyrinth, which made significant waves in the press both at home and abroad. The third album, Soul Alert, had to wait until 2012, but, thanks to an exceptionally favourable reception, resulted in a trip over the Atlantic and a highly successful tour across Europe in autumn 2013 with the Swedish band Beardfish.
