Four years ago jazz pianist Péter Sárik launched a unique initiative to arrange the favourite songs of his audience in his own jazz-based style. The concept quickly became so successful that the public soon clamoured for the chance to take those favourite songs home with them in the form of an album. Before a full house at the Palace of Arts in October 2012, the Péter Sárik Trio presented its Jazzkívánságműsor (Jazz Request Show) album, which went gold in a matter of four months.
The Jazz Request Show concert series has since become one of the most popular jazz events in the country, with close to a hundred requests already fulfilled to date. The public’s imagination has proven limitless, so that the material at the concert launching the second album also promises to be a real treat for lovers of the genre. The music ranges from Saint-Saëns, Chopin and Bach all the way to the pop hits of the 1980s and ‘90s, featuring evergreens in jazz guise such as Forever Young, Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone, The Sound of Silence and Sweet Dreams. Naturally there is also room in Sárik’s “covers factory” for the biggest hits of today, such as I Believe I Can Fly and Young and Beautiful.
In early 2013, the Péter Sárik Trio went through a line-up change as the leader was joined by Attila Gálfi and Tibor Fonay. The meeting of the current three musicians has made the band’s sound even more jazzy, fresh and dynamic. Another new addition is Myrtill Micheller as the trio’s guest for both the album and the record launch concert, and her presence guarantees that the audience will take this new album to their hearts.
