This is what happens when Pat Metheny looks out at his young colleagues and sees outstanding talents testing their wings around him. There is a remarkable intention behind the Side-Eye production. The 20-time Grammy Award-winning guitarist remembers when, as a young musician in Kansas City, he was given the opportunity to showcase his skills by a host of experienced musicians, and now he wants to pass on his experience to, and even learn from, talents worth looking out for. On this tour, he will be joined by keyboardist Chris Fishman and drummer Joe Dyson.

In this exciting line-up dispensing with any bass player, the extraordinarily talented Chris Fishman will be manning the keyboards. Hailing from Los Angeles, Fishman started playing drums and piano at the age of four and then took the stage for the first time at the age of seven. He was later admitted to the Manhattan School of Music on a full scholarship. His interest in a wide range of genres has brought him a colourful palette of collaborators, including Flying Lotus, Louis Cole, Aaron Parks, Terri Lyne Carrington, Ambrose Akinmusire, Genevieve Artadi, Justin Brown and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He can be heard alongside Thundercat on the score to Netflix's original anime series Yasuke.
Of course, there are many people who pick up any noise-making instrument at the age of two, but Joe Dyson showed a special talent for rhythm at this young age. As a native of New Orleans, his home city determined his connection to jazz. He was awarded a Presidential Scholarship to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, and soon found himself in the company of legends like Dr Lonnie Smith, Ellis Marsalis, Nicholas Payton and Esperanza Spalding.
It will be a unique experience to enjoy Pat Metheny's hits with this line-up.
