PASO – Pannonia Allstars Ska Orchestra
14 November 2012 Wednesday
7 pm - 9:20 pm
Béla Bartók National Concert Hall
MR2 Acoustic+ from Müpa Budapest

Thanks to the legendary energy of their live concerts, the Pannonia Allstars Ska Orchestra made a lightning jump from the boards of underground clubs to the main stage of the Sziget Festival. They have since become an indispensable favourite of every major Hungarian music festival. Their joint concert with the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra promises to be an unforgettable experience for those who love to dance, but also for concert-goers and music aficionados. The orchestra and the Hungarian masters of ska music made their début together at the Sziget Festival in 2011. Following that huge initial success and several months of preparation, the audience at the Palace of Arts will at last get to hear an evening concert of symphonic reinterpretations of PASO’s greatest hits. Among the featured tunes will be System Connection, Budapest, Captain of the Tenkes and Hungarian Dish, as well as tracks from their latest album Lovemonster, released this March. The dance-friendly ska, rocksteady, mento, psychedelic reggae, dub and Caribbean beats on the new double album will be spiced up further by the input of the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra at this special performance. The transcriptions for orchestra were prepared by Gábor Subicz. A co-production by the Palace of Arts and m1 television, MR2 Szimfonik+ from the Palace of Arts is an independently conceived extension for television of the MR2-Petőfi Radio initiative launched in 2011. At that time, several popular groups took to the stage with the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, each performing new versions of two or three of their songs. Based on this successful idea, the music of a single group will now be adapted for performance for these special concerts. The Béla Bartók National Concert Hall offers the audience a genuine concert experience, as well as a glimpse behind the scenes of the recording of a new TV show.
