“Ring throughout our night, and flash before us our fragile plaything, hope.” The Word became flesh and entered human time. Beginning and end meet here: in birth, the shadow of death is already present and, in death, the light of resurrection shines. On the threshold of the new year, we remember this threefold mystery: every beginning carries fulfilment within it, every passing reveals the secret of resurrection, while our time touches He who is eternal. The melodies and dances of this programme draw on the traditions of the Carpathian Basin, so that in shared celebration we may experience birth and finality, time and eternity, human fragility and divine grace meeting in one and the same mystery.
The chief patron of the evening is Dr Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary.
