“The rhythm of the urban jungle throbs.” Appearing with some well known musical guests, Mystery Gang play the biggest hits of the past 14 years from both their English-language albums and their latest Hungarian disc, along with a good sprinkling of original rockabilly classics from the 1950s. Their acoustic rearrangements have never been heard before and draw on the music’s roots – in rhythm and blues, Western swing, bebop and even folk music – and yet retain the feel of a real rock ‘n’ roll concert. Mystery Gang are preparing for the most exciting project in their musical journey so far, where we’ll hear what it means for the rhythm of the group’s rockabilly music to “break free of the urban jungle” in an acoustic setting. MR2 Acoustic+ from the Palace of Arts is a new series of performances in a concert environment and is co-produced by the public media (MR2-Petőfi Radio, m1) and the Palace of Arts (Müpa). It follows the familiar model of MR2-Petőfi Radio unplugged studio concerts. Recordings for radio and television of outstanding performers from the cream of the Hungarian popular music scene are made in the context of a series of high-quality concerts at the Palace of Arts, providing the audience with not only a concert experience but a look behind the scenes of the recording process. (Each concert in the series will be filmed for broadcast at a later date on the m1 channel in a weekend prime time slot.)
