Buddy Holly died in a plane crash on February 3rd 1959. He was only twenty-three. On the fiftieth anniversary of his death, Mystery Gang and guests give a two-part concert in music and prose. The first half will be an unadulterated Buddy Holly concert, featuring his greatest songs, such as That’ll Be The Day, Oh, Boy!, Peggy Sue, Rave On. But let’s be more accurate: this is not just a concert. We will also be treated to a brief musical and cultural review of the period: with the aid of a narrato...r and compere, the Mystery Gang will guide us into the world of the fifties and the imagined story of Buddy Holly’s last concert. To help with the sound, the group will be expanded by a four voice vocal group for the occasion. The second half of the concert will be a real Mystery Gang concert. As the band says: “We will show how Buddy Holly’s music influenced us, and what it means to us, some fifty years on”. The finale will feature the debut of the Mystery Gang’s English language tribute song Good Bye Buddy. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the concert: Péter Egri – vocals, guitar (Buddy Holly), Zoltán Paszinger – double bass (Joe B. Mauldin), Gergő Szőcs – drums (Jerry Allison)
