Mystery Gang
“Garage and Jungle at the Palace of Arts”
15 January 2008 Tuesday
7 pm - 9 pm
Festival Theatre

Péter Egri – vocals, guitar, Gábor Bardóczi – drums, Singer – double bass If we’re talking about rockabilly, jungle or garage, then it has to be Mystery Gang. There is no arguing this band represents a fusion of these three genres. The boys have played at numerous concerts in Hungary and abroad and collected experiences. They have played with the great golden oldies on a single stage and together with them, they watched the figurations, studied the 50s and all the early films. At the same time they released three CDs for a distinguished rockabilly publisher and early in their career released a bakelite single in Japan; they can still be heard on compilation albums all over the world. This is how the unmistakeable sound of Mystery Gang has evolved and three decades later it still retains its urban pulse, its unique character and individual style and remains faithful to its roots. This evening the Festival Theatre will transform into a suburban garage in which the members of Mystery Gang will play as if they were in the rehearsal room. Alongside them, mechanics will be sweating away under a clapped out American hot-rod because the lads will need it for the second half of the concert as they make their way to the inner city, having finished practising what they want to display. On the street they are surrounded by youths and women of dubious repute, the tension virtually vibrates in the urban jungle, the music is harsh and everyone goes crazy with the rhythm. With the help of inventive sets and guests who play on conga, piano and saxophone, the Mystery Gang will reveal to us where they have come from, where they are at now, and where they are heading to.
