Magashegyi Underground return with a completely revamped show to the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall, the venue where they performed to a packed house almost exactly a year ago. The clocks are reset on the group’s career on 8 February as they rework their symphonic production on the basis of their recent experiences and musical adventures. The group will air several songs from the long-awaited new Magashegyi record for the first time here, alongside some rarely heard nuggets from their six-year back catalogue and entirely new arrangements of a few more familiar tunes. Alongside trumpeter Gábor Subicz from the Pannonia Allstars Ska Orchestra (PASO), conductor for the evening László Grünvald has done the lion’s share of work on the symphonic rearrangements of Magashegyi songs. What hasn’t changed, however, is the group’s continuous drive for something new, its evocation of unusual moods and moments, and – following the trusted motto of “never change a winning team” – the roll-call of its collaborators on the concert stage.
