On October 2, 2022, the excellent jazz pianist and composer Béla Szakcsi Lakatos, who was awarded the Liszt and Kossuth prizes, died at the age of 79. We will remember him with parts of concerts that he himself could have performed in at Müpa Budapest.

In 2008 he was celebrating his sixty fifth birthday in the company of great American stars, proving in just what high esteem he was held by the greats of world jazz. This evening, the world-famous jazz standard Autumn leaves by the Hungarian-born Joseph Kozma was also performed.

The second half of his 2017 concert was brought to the stage Szakcsi Lakatos's guest Gábor Presser, who joined the pianist for some joint improvisation, for example, improvising to the sounds of the audience.

In 2014, at the joint Old year farewell concert with Lajos Kathy Horváth Béla Szakcsi Lakatos and his musician partners were spread before us the rich, stylistically diverse Roma culture that can only be found in Hungary.

At one of Müpa Budapest's 10-year anniversary concerts in 2015 the partners of Szakcsi Lakatos at this celebration were all young talents who had proven before at the Jazz Showcase that, despite their tender years, they were mature performers who may within a few decades be honoured with the same epithets as the legendary pianist. This evening we heard a jazz session among equals on stage, among others, a two-piano improvisation with Krisztián Oláh.

We close our compilation with one of his oldest Müpa Budapest concerts: at the end of Béla Szakcsi Lakatos's evening in 2007, the audience could listen to an improvisation on one of the most well-known Hungarian tunes.

These recordings were made at concerts held at Müpa Budapest on 1 October 2008, 10 December 2017, 29 December 2014, 14 March 2015 and 23 February 2007.
