Formed in 1999, the Debrecen-based Talamba Percussion Ensemble has been one of the most significant groups of its kind in Hungary for 27 years. And, as the title of the Liszt Prize-winning group’s concert at Müpa Budapest attests, they are not planning on stopping any time soon. The Beat Goes On… reflects the never-ending fusion of musical styles they bring to the stage. Joining the production is the singer, violinist and percussionist Edina “Mókus” Szirtes, with whom the band has been making magical music for many years. The meeting of African and other traditional cultures with Hungarian folk music and the drawing of striking musical parallels ensure the unique Talamba sound born from the combination of percussion instruments, vocals, the violin, and a looper is certain to make this a very “hard hitting” night where the sky is the limit.
