Dés–Bereményi: Man and Woman
Concert for four actors and orchestra
3 September 2008, Wednesday
2:30 pm - 4:50 pm
Béla Bartók National Concert Hall

Juli Básti, Dorottya Udvaros, György Cserhalmi, János Kulka, László Dés and his band Producer: Tibor Orlai Graphics: Géza Szöllősi Director’s assistant: Katalin Fenyvesi Assistants: Tünde Szabados, Róbert Frank Technical director: Tamás Ditzmann Director: Géza Bereményi What can happen between a man and a woman? Everything. Anything. From passion to tears. Can we summarise it all in a single concert? Yes. At least, four supreme actors – two men and two women – have undertaken to give it a try, as well as a superb band. And not least are the superb words. In the 80s, two great albums touched Hungarian hearts: Transient, Keep silent for a while! Both are now legendary. Dorottya Udvaros will sing about Snowfall, a Vain Sweet Girl and the Undressing; Juli Básti and György Cserhalmi will give us their passionate duets such as Play Partners and Ten Signs of Guilt. These songs are rarely if ever performed in concerts. János Kulka has also recorded several Dés compositions before. So after a break of twenty years, the Big Team comes together again, with László Dés directing the music and Géza Bereményi directing the show, giving us a unique performance. The Dés–Bereményi composer/lyricist duo has written some new songs for the four actors. But what are they about? About everything that can happen between a man and a woman.
