JAZZ SPRING 2017

Double Grammy-winner Cassandra Wilson merits her own chapter in the history of jazz. This pivotal artist whose voice is blues personified surpassed her rivals early on by venturing beyond the world of familiar jazz standards, and eventually into the realm of country and folk. Since commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Billie Holiday the year before last, her most recent interest is researching the crucial influence that Irish folk music played on jazz. After an absence of eight years, she is now returning to perform at Müpa Budapest.
