The Palace of Arts and the Madách Theatre paid homage to the composer who since the première of Cats at the Madách Theatre in 1983 (its third production following the London and New York premières) has been one of the best known and most loved composers in Hungary. The original performance in November 2008 was such a great success that it has been decided to repeat it. The programme reviews his remarkably rich oeuvre, which has been characterised by works such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Aspects of Love, The Phantom of the Opera and The Beautiful Game. During the evening, we’ll hear the familiar songs from these musicals and also be treated to some Hungarian premières of Webber works such as Tell Me on a Sunday, Whistle Down the Wind and Sunset Boulevard which have not been staged in Hungary yet. This performance of “The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber” is taking place by special permission of The Really Useful Group Limited.
