Medieval ballads often gave a voice to the position of women in society, whether they were elevated to heaven or simply reduced to dust. Female destinies will come to life during the song programme The Girl Who Was Taken to Heaven, where we will hear a bouquet of medieval Hungarian folk ballads. Since individual ballads have survived in several different versions over the centuries, the composers of the evening, László Kollár-Klemencz and Márk Csernovszky, have used and reworked the original patterns, furnishing the ballads with fresh and authentic melodies and a new musical environment with a modern concept. We can state without fear of exaggeration that they have a new dimension of quality in store for us at this moving and enchanting concert, one whose impact will be difficult to forget. The Girl Who Was Taken to Heaven will be published in the form of a book and CD, with illustrations by Andrea Kürti and the accompanying music, by Gutenberg Kiadó in Miercurea Ciuc (Csíkszereda), for this occasion, making the evening a book and record launch as well.
Please note that during the performance you will hear a loud sound effect imitating the firing of a gun. Thank you for your understanding!
