Paris, I Love You - In French, with Hungarian subtitles
Anyone who watches French films cannot avoid Paris. Not that they would want to. The world's filmmakers certainly think that Paris is worth a great deal. But what this might actually mean is a more complicated questions, since out of the scores of films that take place in Paris, only a very few attempt to take a profound look at the city. Paris, I Love You! seeks to solve this. A so-called "sketch film”, it is a compilation of short pieces. A total of 22 directors from various countries were invited to each embrace one arrondissement of Paris and make a film about it. Of the city's 20 districts, 18 were claimed. And although there were no constraints regarding genre, nobody should be surprised to find, alongside the love stories and farces, films about vampires and ghosts, a sociological investigation and a surrealist study film. A list of all the actors and directors would be quite long. But for the benefit of film connoisseurs, we'll name a few well-known directors: Gus Van Sant, Joel and Ethan Coen, Isabel Coixet, Alfonso Cuarón, Oliver Assayas, Wes Craven and Tom Tykwer. And nobody will have any trouble recognising the international stars.
