Gypsy music is a true Hungarian speciality. Over the last few centuries it has managed to live and survive against all the odds, and is still with us today. The history of Hungarian music features a long line of Roma musicians, who have embarked on an impressive path from table performers for diners in the 'csárda' (a type of Hungarian tavern) to the present day, where performers regularly fill concert halls with their music, which also explores the field of jazz. There is no one type of Gypsy music: its secret lies in its receptivity and diversity. On this occasion, three stars of modern Hungarian Gypsy music, Guszti Balogh, and his two bandmates Tibor Balogh and Gusztáv "Csompi” Balogh, will offer us a glimpse into the world of authentic Gypsy music, featuring lyrical vocals and fiery ballads. Making the programme even more interactive will be 70 original vintage Cegléd water jugs, courtesy of Ethnosound, for members of the audience to take up and help play the music.
