Hungarian folk dance is enjoying renewed popularity thanks to the television talent show "Felszállott a páva”. Researching and bringing to the stage our dance and musical traditions in their original form has always been the basis of creative endeavours by the artists of the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble. Here, we are invited on a journey of rediscovery of the treasures of Hungarian folk art tradition; its striking traditional costumes, its enchanting folk melodies and the inimitable virtuosity of its dances. The peacock motif, a symbol of eternal love in Hungarian folk art, acts as the central theme of the first part of the performance.

A joint production of the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble, Budapest Spring Festival and National Dance Theatre.

Sponsored by: National Cultural Fund, Ministry of Human Resources

Presented by: National Dance Theatre
