The MET: Repeat of the live broadcast in HD at Müpa Budapest

With his consistently intriguing and profound directing style, Mariusz Treliński presents a new production featuring the debut of the always breath-taking Lise Davidsen in a new role, with Yannick Nézet-Séguin's masterful conducting of “The Power of Fate” from the orchestra pit for the very first time. These three noteworthy highlights immediately catch our attention, making the broadcast unmissable. But naturally, this Verdi opera production, scheduled for the first time in the HD Live season line-up, is sure to hold great appeal and captivate us in many ways beyond the obvious.

We have two relevant and memorable fundamental experiences from the Metropolitan: The 1983 video recording of “The Power of Fate” featuring Leontyne Price's ethereal and pure Leonora, and a 1996 television broadcast with Plácido Domingo in the role of the persecuted Alvaro. Now, it's time for us to witness the 21st-century production of La Forza del Destino, re-imagined with a modern-day setting by acclaimed director Mariusz Treliński. At only in her mid-thirties, Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen has conquered the world of opera, taking on iconic female roles from Ariadne to the Marschallin, and Leonora in Fidelio. This time, she is preparing to add another notable Leonora to her repertoire, promising a momentous occasion in operatic history. As Don Alvaro, the American tenor Brian Jagde, who has been regularly performing at the Metropolitan since 2014, takes the stage.

The superior quality broadcasts in Müpa Budapest are screened in the original language with Hungarian and English subtitles.
