Third Budapest International Choral Celebration - V4 Choral Gala

At this special concert, we will get a taste of the folklore and choral culture of the V4 nations from four outstanding, multiple prize-winning choirs.

Poland well be represented by Gioia di Cantare from Toruń. The music school's children's choir has achieved outstanding results at numerous international festivals, as well as winning the grand prize in their local competition in Toruń, and most recently coming top of their category in Riva del Garda.

From Slovakia, we will welcome Collegium Technikum, the choir of the Technical University of Košice. As one of the country's top choral ensembles, it has travelled the world, furthering the good name of the university with competition victories and awards.

Representing the Czech Republic will be the Smetana Hulín choir founded in 1999. The have graced many festivals, regularly returning home with gold and silver medals.

Hungary's ensemble is the Lautitia Chamber Choir from Debrecen, which was formed from the Lautitia Mixed Youth Choir. Its repertoire primarily comprises contemporary pieces, but the choir also likes the challenge of of works from other periods of music history. The chamber choir first tested itself in the 15th Budapest International Choral Competition in 2015, where it won first prize in its category. The outstanding result of its career to date was the grand prize at the 2015 Arezzo International Choral Competition, with which it earned the right to enter the 2016 European Grand Prix for Choral Singing in Varna.

The program is organised on behalf of the Public Foundation for Research on Central and Eastern European History and Society within the framework of the Hungarian Presidency of the Visegrad Group 2017/2018.

Müpa Budapest provides complementary parking for visitors with paid tickets to any of our public performances on the day of the performance. Free parking in this case is available for a single entry and lasts until Müpa Budapest closes.
