This evening will see a challenge between the very best of the nearly 400 applicants to the Solti International Conducting Competition, which was announced in 2025. The four talented conductors who advance from the semi-finals will each direct two works selected through a drawing of lots. The competitors will be evaluated by an international jury led by Pinchas Steinberg, with the audience also given the opportunity after this round to vote for their favourite. However, the winner of the audience award, as well as the overall winner, will only be revealed to the public at the gala concert of the Solti International Conductors’ Competition on 10 October, when the jury discloses the name of the artist whom they regard not merely as an outstanding musician, but also as a future leading figure of the world’s orchestras and a truly authentic ambassador of cultural values..
