The attraction of South American rhythms – this could be the motto of this concert of the Danubia Orchestra and Argentinian conductor Mariano Chiacchiarini. The international career of the Buenos Aires-born conductor took off after winning the 1st Prize of the Teatro Colón Conducting Competition, and he could work with such luminaries as Sir Simon Rattle, Pierre Boulez, Péter Eötvös, Riccardo Chailly, Riccardo Muti and Bernard Haitink. He has performed at major festivals and concert halls, including the Lucerne Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Young Euro Classic, the Donaueschinger Musiktage, the Elbphilharmonie, the Konzerthaus in Vienna and Berlin, the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, the Teatro Colón and the Opéra Bastille. A few days before his appearance in Budapest, he will conduct the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra in Cologne for the world premiere of Sōma, a new work for jazz quartet, electronics and symphony orchestra by Portuguese composer Igor C Silva, commissioned by the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO).
