Organ master class
3 July 2017, Monday
4 pm - 7 pm
Béla Bartók National Concert Hall

The Budapest Academy of Music and Müpa Budapest Organ Master Class led by Zsigmond Szathmáry and László Fassang.
Venue: Müpa Budapest, Béla Bartók National Concert Hall
Date: 3-5 July 2017

Would you like to play a concert on the Müpa Budapest organ? Would you like to prepare with the help of experienced organists like Zsigmond Szathmáry and László Fassang? If so, then this master class is for you!
Ever since its inauguration, Müpa Budapest's organ has had the important mission of inspiring young organists and advancing the professional development of the next generation. In this spirit, Müpa Budapest and the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music are jointly producing an international master class led by Zsigmond Szathmáry, retired professor of the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, and László Fassang, professor at the Liszt Academy and the Conservatoire de Paris. The course is unusual in the sense that the participants, admitted on the basis of previously submitted recordings, will get the chance to perform publicly as they take part in the lessons held on Müpa Budapest's organ. As part of these open sessions, the leaders of the class will endeavour to help the participants prepare the programme to be played at the closing concert. The audience will thus gain insights into both the tricks of the trade of organ playing and the process of artistic development, which leads to the podium for a mature production only after many thousand hours of practice.
Programme schedule:
3 July, 2pm-7pm: open course
4 July, 10am-1pm and 3pm-6pm: open course
5 July, 10am-1pm: open course
