String Quartet in G major, Op. 77, No. 1

The Salzburg-based Javus Quartett is one of the most promising ensembles on the international chamber music scene. Since its foundation in 2016, the quartet’s artistic development has been guided by renowned mentors such as Lukas Hagen and Johannes Meissl. The ensemble has won numerous major awards and performed in prestigious venues such as London’s Wigmore Hall and Vienna’s Musikverein. Their repertoire extends from the cornerstones of the string quartet literature to contemporary works. Their Budapest programme reflects this diversity: alongside one of Joseph Haydn’s late string quartets, they will perform the 20th-century Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz’s neoclassical String Quartet No. 3. A recurring feature of the Rising Stars concerts is the presentation of a new work commissioned by ECHO; on this occasion the piece is by the young German composer and conductor Oscar Jockel, who is known for his penchant for experimentation.

Nominated for the Rising Stars programme by: Wiener Konzerthaus, Musikverein Wien, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.
