R. Strauss

Also sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30

This concert by the MÁV Symphony Orchestra affords us yet another opportunity to welcome the world-famous pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja, this time taking the stage alongside her outstanding young colleague Mihály Berecz. Although born more than a century after Mozart, Richard Strauss sought his entire life to serve as his predecessor’s spiritual heir. Among the most thrilling pieces he ever wrote is his symphonic poem inspired by one of the most important works of the great philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. Now starting his fourth season at the helm of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra, Róbert Farkas has been expanding both his own and the orchestra’s repertoire in a methodical and convincing fashion.
