Artistic collaborations between Müpa Budapest and the Munich Radio Orchestra have already delighted audiences with two Verdi rarities: I due Foscari in 2018 and another early Verdi opera, I Lombardi, which was performed in 2023 by an outstanding international cast of singers. On this occasion, chief conductor Ivan Repušić has chosen another gem, Simon Boccanegra. The stewardship of the exceptional Croatian and the participation of the Bavarian ensembles are sure-fire guarantees of quality, while the lead roles will be taken up by artists who regularly grace the world’s greatest opera stages, from La Scala to the Met. The part of Simon Boccanegra will be performed by one of the most sought-after Verdi baritones of our time, the Romanian George Petean, while Amelia will be portrayed by the renowned Italian soprano Eleonora Buratto, who is celebrated for her Verdi interpretations.
