Symphony No. 4 in E minor, Op. 98
The Estonian-American conductor Neeme Järvi is often referred to as the founder of a “conductor dynasty”, as both of his sons, Paavo and Kristjan, have become world-renowned orchestra leaders. Neeme Järvi has worked with distinguished ensembles such as the Scottish National Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. This joint concert with the MÁV Symphony Orchestra promises to have a lively opening thanks to Carl Maria von Weber’s radiantly romantic overture, before a remarkably popular work and a genuine rarity take their places on the programme. Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor will be performed with the Hungarian-Egyptian violinist Amira Abouzahra as the soloist, while we will hear Brahms’s monumental Symphony No. 4, one of the most profound and sensitive works in the musical canon, during the second half of the evening.
The concert is presented as a collaboration between the MÁV Symphony Orchestra and Pilvax Films, as part of the All Star Series programme curated by Stathis Karapanos.
Presented by: MÁV Symphony Orchestra
