The Budapest Festival Orchestra Children’s Choir debuts in a major concert. The project, conceived by Iván Fischer, brings together exceptionally talented young singers from all over Hungary. In addition to performing, the budding choristers will take part in individual and group music sessions as part of their training. The programme combines the rich traditions of Hungarian choral singing with the best pedagogical methods from the international vanguard. In this spirit, the Children’s Choir will perform songs from many different nations – from Hungary through Israel and Japan all the way to Mexico – in the first half of the concert. The selection highlights not only the theme of togetherness but also that of nature. The young titans will be followed by Mahler’s “Titan” in the form of the expansive emotional palette of his Symphony No. 1, which was first performed in Budapest and also includes a children’s song.
