It is not immodest, just a statement of fact on the website of the Grammy-nominated VOCES8: you are looking at the world’s most listened-to classical vocal group. The joy of anticipation at this advent concert will be captured by an a capella octet known for its impressive versatility and crystal-clear harmonies, and which will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of its formation with 100 concerts. Pétur Sakari, the Finnish organist appearing alongside them, is barely a decade older and already appeared in Northern Europe’s leading concert halls, festivals and churches, including the Notre-Dame de Paris and the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, in his twenties. The celebratory atmosphere will be inspired by classical and lesser-known works carefully selected from a repertoire spanning several centuries. Let’s get in the mood for Christmas by decorating our souls!
