Jazz Spring

9-11 May 2025

You couldn’t say that the 21st edition of Jazz Spring is like blackjack, because we are guaranteed not to go bust with this next crop of international stars providing this experience of a lifetime. The 2025 event series places the spotlight on the trumpet, with an extremely diverse offering distinguished by a party atmosphere, sophisticated instrumental solos, pop, Latin, R&B and hip-hop elements, as well as a drive to push beyond established formulas.

Opening the line-up on Friday, 9 May will be Prince’s former co-creator, trumpeter/composer Philip Lassiter. Equally at home in funk, gospel, jazz and soul, he can boast 11 Grammy awards and, apart from the late pop legend, has also worked with Ariana Grande, Queen Latifah and Candy Dulfer.

On Saturday the 10th, we can experience the disarming instrumental skills, masterful improvisations and direct performance style of the world-famous German trumpeter/vocalist Till Brönner, who is also recognised as a photographer. Together with his international quintet, he will deliver his greatest hits, along with some surprises.

The trumpeter, composer, producer and influencer Theo Croker, arriving with his quartet for Sunday’s closing night, as the grandson of fellow trumpeter Doc Cheatham, courageously serves as a representative of both his musical heritage and the convictions of his worldview gained through his civil rights activist father. Telling stories with his instrument, he both entertains and provokes thought: his first concert in Hungary promises to be a truly novel experience.
