With their evocative lyrics, relentless experimental spirit, and Bíborka Bocskor’s instantly recognizable, sensitive performance style, Magashegyi Underground has been considered one of the most original formations in the Hungarian alternative pop scene for two decades now. This time, for their Müpa Budapest concert, they will reveal the deepest layers of their musical DNA to the audience. By her own admission, Bíborka Bocskor’s artistic and private journey has been defined from the very beginning by the rich world of Csángó culture. As she puts it: “Csángó heritage is very mystical, sacred, surreal, and, also, quite simple – as simple as life unfolding in nature.” But how does this ancient world take shape in the present day, and how can all of this be translated into the language of music? In the Bartók Béla National Concert Hall on June 4, we will receive answers to these questions and many more.
