When the name of Mór Jókai is heard by Hungarians in any context, it is highly unlikely to garner a neutral response. Beyond the experience of compulsory reading assignments at school, he has a remarkably rich body of work, and was also an exciting literary character. In connection with the Jókai anniversary, several layers of his literary heritage will be revealed in the course of the evening to allow everyone to choose for themselves which door to (re)enter the world of Jókai through: from the direction of his unknown works or via his scandalous private life. During the course of the roundtable talk, the relevance of the author born 200 years ago, his literary and personal relationship with women, and the background to the texts heard will all be discussed.
