There are evenings that are more than mere performances — they are communal events: encounters with a life’s work, with a particular spirit, and with one another. With the celebratory evening entitled Rare Hungarian, we pay tribute to Zoltán Kallós, a defining figure in 20th-century Hungarian ethnography, folk music, and folk dance research, on the 100th anniversary of his birth. The most beautiful melodies of Transylvania live on in his memory; he sang them and taught them. It was only natural to him that tradition is passed down not merely on the pages of books, but from person to person. This gala is composed of his favourite songs, together with the dances he collected jointly with György Martin.
