Platinum level members of the Müpa+ membership programme can buy tickets for the event on 29 September from 10 am, at the Gold level on 30 September from 10 am, and at the Silver level on 1 October from 10 am. Philip Glass, one of the greatest living figures in the world of contemporary music, turns 90 on 31 January 2027. The composer will be celebrated around the world on this notable date; at Müpa Budapest, the Dutch ensemble DOMNIQ, led by Dominique Vleeshouwers, will perform both a work of its own and those of the American minimalist. The virtuoso percussionist and his orchestra are known for their innovative approaches; their programme places Glass’s ballet music front and centre while using percussion and wind instruments of their own design. Composed between 1993 and 1999, Águas da Amazônia is inspired by the waters of the Amazon basin and the tropical rainforest, masterfully conveying the atmosphere of this unique region. Philip Glass himself also took part in the preparation of this new arrangement, making this a truly fitting way to celebrate his birthday.
