Péter "Sziámi" Müller, an iconic figure in the history of Hungarian pop music and the front man of the bands URH, Kontroll Csoport and, operating under various names and with different line-ups, Sziámi, is turning 70. On this jubilee occasion, he and his current ensemble, Péter "Sziámi" Müller AndFriends, will be joined by the Danubia Orchestra Óbuda, with additional colour being provided by former bandmates and other noted guests, as they perform the musician's popular classic hits, along with some quite recent compositions, in a manner in which they have never been played before.

During the little more than six months of URH's existence, Müller wrote and sang the lyrics to many of the most quoted compositions in Hungarian pop music, an activity he continued with the likewise short-lived Kontroll Csoport. Later on, coming out with even more memorable songs with the various Sziámi line-ups, he became one of the defining figures in the alternative music scene of the second half of the '80s and the '90s, before going on to further enrich Hungarian rock music with additional enduring compositions. These we will be hearing in the company of several new songs, including one being given its first performance this evening, with the Danubia Orchestra Óbuda, one of Hungary's leading symphony orchestras and one of the country's artistic ensembles most characteristically open to experimentation with genre helping to repackage the well-known underground hits. As he celebrates this notable anniversary, Müller can, of course, look back on a career that extends beyond his now-classic lyrics being performed on this evening to his role as a key figure in Hungarian alternative culture who has also worked not only as a film director, but also as a writer, poet, literary translator, a founder of the Sziget and opera festivals, an actor with the Baltazár Theater - and so much more besides. Joining them to illuminate this history will be a wide range of guests, including Mihály Víg, Róbert Bérczesi, Antal Kovács (Romano Drom) and Eszter Ónodi.
